In line with the new Stewardship Regime to control the over- use of rodenticides, we fully support the practice of pesticide-free outdoor monitoring techniques and believe that it is better for the environment and for wildlife.

Owls can catch and eat small rodents that have been poisoned, and hedgehogs can eat slugs that are partial to eating bait.

Therefore, within our contracts, we always use non-toxic bait for outdoor monitoring and regular visits to assess rodent activity.

Should rats or mice be detected, we then put down toxic bait for the minimum time it takes to eradicate the problem, and then return to using wildlife-safe monitoring bait.

Aimed primarily for businesses serving food, within our Gold Service Contract we believe that monthly monitoring results in less pest problems, as colonies and rodent communities do not have time to multiply significantly in between visits, where they can cause serious pest issues and potentially a long term problem which can be more difficult to eradicate.

Visiting monthly also means that our clients can be safe in the knowledge that their premises are being checked regularly.

However, all levels of contracts, Gold, Silver and Bronze, are available and we will work with you, the client, to achieve the right balance for your requirements.

We offer three levels of contract:

GOLD - 12 scheduled monthly visits per annum plus UNLIMITED call-outs for contract pests.

SILVER - 8 scheduled visits per annum with FOUR free call-outs for contract pests.

BRONZE- 6 scheduled visits per annum with no free call-outs. However, within this contract, call-out charges for contract pests will be discounted by 25%.

This basic level of contract is not recommended for food premises where more frequent routine visits are necessary to insure against pest ingress.

If you already have a pest problem, we will identify it, assess the level of infestation, work swiftly to eradicate it and then begin scheduled visiting.

We supply you with a folder to keep on the premises containing risk assessments, material safety data sheets, treatment reports/visit records and other associated paperwork which can be made available to the Environmental Health Officer on his/her visits .

These scheduled visit reports are important to the EHO as they prove that the business is actually working to ensure no pest ingress, rather than only dealing with a problem as and when it arises.

These ants are extremely difficult to bring under control. When attacked they form satellite groups to preserve the colony, so any attempt to treat them with aerosol-based insecticides by well -meaning staff will only exacerbate the problem and lengthen the time it takes to eradicate the colony.

Legislation to make displaying Scores On The Doors ratings mandatory for all businesses in England serving or selling food is set to come into force soon. This will allow customers to make an informed decision whether to eat at or purchase food from these premises. In Wales and Northern Ireland it is already mandatory for food premises to display their ratings in a prominent position at the front of the building, whatever their score.
Understandably, this has an effect on how the business is run and the standards by which it operates. At Eradica Pest Control we are qualified under the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health in food handling and hygiene, so we are in the advantageous position to be able to discuss and advise our customers on these important kitchen issues.
